We are introduced to Anna, part human, part spirit whose dalliances with an alien race have made her very powerful. In spite of her strength, she is forced to occupy a section of time and space that intersects a house inhabited by young Gregory Coleman and his family.

She befriends the young boy, masquerading as his imaginary playmate, all the while devising her plan of retribution. She is aided in her task by Joseph, a hermit with mysterious ties to the small town of New Harmony, Indiana, and Sylvie, a 200-year-old poltergeist with aspirations of godhood. As Gregory matures, he is drawn further into the web Anna has created to shield him from the truth of her existence.

For Anna is not what she seems, nor is she the benign playmate Gregory always thought her to be. In your hands is the compelling and controversial story of Gregory's journey from boyhood to adolescence, from death to life, and from distress to redemption. Within these pages, the orphaned find a home and fulfillment of the greatest promise ever made: that of Eden.

Born as Patrick John Coleman in Louisville , Kentucky, the boy was adopted by the Durchholz family in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and raised on a farm very close to where Edgar Cayce was born and raised. As a child he spoke often of his playmates that his parents deemed imaginary but Durchholz claims were spirits that haunted the family farm. When the farm succumbed to the financial pressures of a drought coupled with the shenanigans of an entity named Oxopoy, Durchholz was told to never speak of the haunting again. The entity continued to take an interest in the boy and followed the family to Indiana where they had relocated in a small town Mount Vernon near the site of two failed Utopian experiments.

The village of New Harmony would feature prominently in his first novel The Promise Of Eden, and he would attempt to tell the story of his birth and childhood through fiction. After the publication of that novel, Durchholz claims he was besieged by entities eager to have him tell their tales and he fled with his boyfriend at the time to Cleveland, Tennessee. He quickly wrote and published iNVERSION to quiet some of the more powerful and antagonzing spirits.

Oxopoy returned to his life and encouraged Durchholz to go to Savannah, Georgia, one of America's most haunted places. He lived for a time near Tybee Island and his writing from that time remains unpublished. He returned to Tennessee in time to receive news that his birthmother wished to communicate with him.

A phone call reunion with her gave him alarming information about his birth and his father that spurred him to move back to Nashville to work on HEARTLESS which was to be his final work before plans to commit suicide. Unable to go through with it, he published the book without an ending. He was visited by Oxopoy yet again and encouraged to finish the book in order to be reunited with a version of himself from an alternate reality.

That Patrick John Coleman had become a powerful psychic and the true nature of who Oxopoy was would be revealed very soon. Back in Nashville, Durchholz began channeling a "personality" that he assumed to be a creation of his own mind. A character named "Beau Ratliffe" that he played for comedy in a series of web videos, which he would later use to explain how ghosts and alternate realities really work.

After losing everything in the 2010 flood, Durchholz returned to Mount Vernon and was stripped off all resources including his car, his eyesight and death was not far away. The consciousness of Patrick made frequent visits to Durchholz and together they hatched a plan for his escape that would ultimately deliver him to Chicago. And during an "experience" in the Spring of 2013, all was revealed.

The truth behind who Oxopoy was, who Beau really was and how Durchholz was to be a vessel for the different versions of himself that had existed in the past and in the future.
